Need info on adhesive for rat fur

Anyone know what is the recommended type of adhesive to use when reattaching the rat fur strips on the Scamp.

I want to run some new wires behind the rat fur and might have to peel away a small section on rat fur where it is seamed to do so. Wiring in a third tail/stop/turn signal led assembly above outside window and will have to snake wire form above center of back window down one of the walls to make up wiring connections.<_< Figured it might be easiest to use the areas where the seams are.

Thanks,
Jack

I've only had to run one wire behind the rat fur on my Casita and that was in the ceiling. I found an old CB antenna that was stiff but flexable enough to follow the curvature of the shell. It worked well and I can't even see the path of the wire behind the material. If one can avoid removing the rat fur it would save lots of work. Worked for me.

Casita doen't use "rat fur" for wall coverings.

No, but the technique Don describes can work for short runs under rat fur, too.

You can use an old school coat hanger for a needle.
I use a length #9 stainless wire, slightly sharpened on on end and looped on the other for a needle eye. strip the wire back about an inch and attach it to the eye. You can bend the "needle" to conform to shape as you guide it.

Works great!
If you are going to install double cord wire, shorten one side a bit for a better install .
Add a little electrical tape to secure the wire to the needle.

Jack
3M "77" or "90"... depending on the job size and application.
I think the 77 is better for small jobs or touch up.
The 90 I believe is what Scamp uses for overall construction (or it is very similar)
I use the 08090 around the shop for automotive applications.

Hot glue

Hot glue works great for re attaching the rat fur trim strips. The 3M-90 seems to work better than the 3M-77 and holds up better under heat.

3M 90
We replaced all the insulation and rat fur on our Scamp 16, 100% replacement, using 3M 90. Good as new, works great.

Thanks Kev.

It looks like you and Floyd both agree on that, good to know. I'll go with the 3M 90.
