Hey Folks,

I want to put a NEW battery in our trailer. The present place for the battery is inside the trailer under the gaucho bunk (it is vented to the outside). What is the best kind of battery that would keep the longest charge? We don't camp a whole lot at RV parks, so we depend a lot on the battery. Price is kind of an object, but if it's a great battery, I'm willing to fork out the dough.

Thanks all!

Chris,

Any deep cycle marine battery will work. The best thing to do is take the old battery into someplace like GI Joes and pick out a new deep cycle battery the same physical size with the largest cranking AMPS.

You will need to turn in the old battery for recycling anyway at the store.

Good luck,

- Joe

I'm not sure that cranking amps is something you want to look for.
It appears that there's three types of Marine batteries.

Marine deep cycle battery with lots of cranking amps sound like a combination battery.

If you read though this topic the different types of batteries are discussed.

Thanks for the help. Would this battery work? I'm pretty ignorant when it comes to this. I just want something that is dependable and safe.

That's probably what I would get, provided that it will fit into your battery location.

That one looks like it will work just fine. I however, have always been partial to Interstate batteries

Seems like I once read that there are only three battery manufacturers in the U.S. So the Schwab may well be an Interstate!

That is the one I bought... $83. It fits right into the old battery case. I just have to find some battery terminals for the wing nuts.

Thanks all!
