New Bigfoot B-17 owner with a question

Hi All!

Been lurking awhile now while trying to decide on what kind of fiberglass travel trailer would best suit me. Using much of the information posted here, I finally decided on a Bigfoot and one finally came up for sale where I am. It is a 1989 1500 Series B-17 Gaucho model and it is in pretty decent condition and, as far as I can tell, all original. A "blank slate", if you will.

Everything on it works and it needs very little to be serviceable, although I will certainly start upgrades as soon as I have the time and the right ideas.

One seemingly simple question I have is about the water heater door, which is missing. It has a 6-gallon Atwood water heater, and I've located a supplier for these but they offer them in both "Polar White" and "Colonial White".

I'm assuming "Polar White" is a bright white and "Colonial White" is the off-white that would be appropriate for this vintage Bigfoot. Does that sound right? Seems like a reasonable assumption but you know what happens when one assumes, right?

Anyway, any insight on the correct color is appreciated.

Cheers!

Mike

I think you observations are correct re: color colonial or antique vs polar or bright white.

Welcome to FiberglassRV Mike, we're glad you're here.

You're correct in shades of white color. I've seen Bigfoot in both colors, you'd need to match YOUR trailer. Although I do know I've seen more vintage in the colonial white....

Good luck!

Heater door cover.

Trainjunkie;
I picked up a new door and it is a bright white. Stands out in a crowd. It's 'probably' the Polar White and is definitely not the match for the Bigfoot. However, it still looks better than the bashed up previous one.
Try the other one. It doesn't bother me but then, I'm easy going!

Turns out the Colonial White door is discontinued according to my dealer. So I bought the Polar White version, which they had in stock. If it stands out too much, I'll put a coat of paint on it to get it closer to a match.

Thanks much for all the replies. I'm looking forward to participating in the forum.

I've found that Krylon "Dover White" spray paint is a good match for the exterior color of my 1980 15B17G.
