New mattress

My wife is unhappy with the mattress (4 cushions) in our Scamp SD.
Does anyone know where I can have a one piece foam mattrtress made.
at a somewhat reasonable price ? I called several places and they either don,t mfg. special sizes or if they do , they want more money than a king set. The present mattress works for short trips but we are planning a long trip next summer and I know I will wish I bought the mattress she wanted.

We've used two different solutions that work.

When we've left the bed permanently made up we've used a combonation memory foam/traditional foam 4" matress from Walmart on top of the standard Scamp cushions. We used an electric knife to cut it to fit the contours.

We no longer leave the bed permanently setup and use a 1.5 inch memory foam/traditional foam matress topper with our Scamp Cushions.

Both of these solutions worked for us and were very cost effective solutions.

For our Egg Camper we bought an 8 (?) inch memory foam mattress from Walmart for under $100. Good fit and comfortable.

I think the order originated from Wisconsin. Their FAX number area code is 414 which is the Milwaukee area.

All the foam necessary to do my entire trailer (6 big pieces) came packed in 2 boxes about 16" x 16" x 28" in size. When I cut the tape, the boxes started popping seams and expanding really quickly. It was a fantastic show!

I got the XL-38 in 4"

1 - 26" x 76".....1- 20" x 76".....2 - 24" x 45"....2 - 15" x 43"

We have found that a 2" memory foam over the original seat cushions, works well for us. I sleep very comfortably on it and was able to trim it to fit the curved corners of the trailer.

For our Uhaul we bought a five inch thick piece of foam from J C Penny online for $75 and cut it to fit. Added a 2 inch mattress topper, not memory foam to it. We leave the bed made up all the time. Everyone's comfort level is different, so explore the options and decide what will work for you. I recall seeing a post on the T&TTT forum about a company that will custom make a mattress, but anything custom made is usually quite expensive. Another company I saw advertise on craigslist is Sigma Mattress in Feeding Hills, MA.

Bought a 3" memory foam pad with fitted sheet type cover from Sears last month. The Burro aft berth is 56" x 86" (the long dimension is the interior width of the trailer) and I thought I would have to get a California king for that dimension. The Sears queen over length at 82" long so about perfect but also overwidth for the ap, came with a fitted sheet type cover, and was 20% off which came in under 2C$. I tucked the pad tight into the aft radii of the interior (the fwd end butts to a bulkhead each side), gave myself a suggestion of scribing with a magic marker, added 1 1/2" behind the scribe line to account for the fact that this stuff doesn't fold like a piece of paper or even like wall to wall carpet, cut with a razor sharp butcher knife. It is really sweet to sink your hips and other protruberances into the foam cf. to sleeping on the cushions. These pads are very heavy and very bulky so may not work for those who must convert to dinette every day. Inflatable air mattresses will also work; after all this is called C A M P I N G.

Same story here. As I recall we ordered the foam from overstock.com. Good prices. Just like Spanke, when you undo the package, stand back. I remember reading the return policy and thinking there is no way you could ever repack it the way it came. Raz
