I know I am being lazy and could call the companies but this is easier.

Does anyone out there know the prices for new 16' and 13' prices for Casitas and Scamps?

The problem is even one option is going to skew the price. Both companies have 800 numbers. A free call would be worth finding the answer you seek.

And then come back and tell the rest of us

Scamp will send you a price list for all of their campers and options. Took a few days to get it. If you'd like PM me and I'll let you know based on what they sent me and your configuration.

I've got the Scamp flyer here in front of me, and I'm too sick to have anything better to do, so here goes:

Base price 13' - $7,995
Base price 16' - $10,595

Option package 13' - $8895 (Includes fridge, Battery pack, screen door, city water, window over stovetop, front or rear cabinets, silverware drawer)

Option package 16' - $12,795 (Includes shower, toilet, water heater, grey water tank, side cabinets, and everything from the 13' package)

The side-dinette model on the 16' runs $500 more.

The Deluxe wood models seem to come with the option package automatically, and run $11,195 for the 13' and $16,195 for the 16'.

They also have a completely refundable down-payment, which I'm not sure Casita does.

Hope that helps.

Casita is having a limited time sale. 17' is $12,224, 16' is 11,137, 13' is 10,234. Those are the standards, they are all on sale. Call 1-800-442-9986, ask for Jeane. I just went there yesterday. There is not much of a waiting time either.

Thanks for the numbers folks. It looks like a new base model Scamp is a heck of a deal. I would need the screen door and the rear cabinet options, which adds an extra $600 or so. This will be one of the few times I will consider buying new instead of used. Why pay $4000 for a 20 year old Scamp when a new one can be had for $9000? I guess to say "that they hold their value well" would be an understatement!

The nice thing about buying something like this new is that you can make some changes and also benefit from the changes slowly made over the years, like axle capacities, etc.

One thing you might seriously consider is having the trailer 'lifted' enough at the factory to accomodate 15" wheels. This would lift the bottom and axle clearance to get lots of ground clearance and also to bring the bottom of the trailer more level with the bottom of the PwrWgn, which will reduce the air dam effect where they don't match and the trailer is pushing air instead of letting it flow.

That makes sense Pete, but I'm using the Volvo S-70 as a TV. The Dodge is ok for getting up in the backcountry with a camper, but it's just too old and gas guzzley to do a lot of traveling. Unfortunately, the car has very low clearance which will limit where I can get to.

I'm not sure how much the toilet/shower option adds. Six years ago when I was looking at the new ones, it added about $2500 (if memory serves me correctly). I'm sure it's gone up by now.

Make sure you compare apples to apples. Some features which are optional on a Scamp are standard on a Casita EXAMPLE = Dual propane tanks on a Scamp are optional , on my Casita they were standard ==A/C was standard on my Casita and optional on a Scamp . ETC. ETC. I have owned both a 16 Ft. Scamp SD and a 17 Ft, Casita DLX and they are both great trailers. You will enjoy either one.

Barbe, you have revived an old thread from 2008, those prices are not current. Hopefully someone may chime in with more recent prices.

Sounds to me like the best bet is still to contact the manufacturer.

As almost everything is an option on Scamps, and the Casita is well equipped, it would very difficult to compare from a price list. Plus different delivery costs etc, as well as price changes can void any info found here.

But choosing between a Scamp and a Casita is more than just prices.

Boy howdy, I wish the prices were still so low! But it's been 6 years.
