Newbie with Burro

Hi,
We just purchased a 1999 Burro wide body 17 foot. Now we need some help. We have never owned a self contained trailer and some things in this one are a little confusing. First of all the hot water heater was removed and the outside hole covered over. What unit should we look for to replace the missing one? Has anyone put a window air conditioner in this unit that would share info? And is there anyone near Roanoke Virginia that has one that would be willing to let us look at their's to see how work?

The water heater in ours is an Atwood G6A-7 which is the pilot-light version 6-gallon type which works very well for us. There is no doubt a direct-spark ignition version of this one availabel (for more money).

If ours ever drops dead I'd be tempted to get the direct-spark ignition version: you can start it from the inside of the trailer, and I think the ease of restarting it might make it much more convenient to generally leave it off when not needed, saving gas. On the other hand, the pilot light on ours seems to keep us in hot water without needing to kick the main burner on. Seems like it kicks on when starting up and then we don't hear from the main burner any more.

Mine is the same way. I fire it up, get a tank hot then turn it down to nothing. stays hot for days.

I don't mind starting it from the outside. It fires right up, unlike my old burros fridge, which was a lesson in foul language, and the pilot would blow out at the slightest wind.
