Trailer: 1973 Bug-eyed Boler
Posts: 34
Hello there,

I have a portable Coleman Blackcat which I occasionally use. I don't usually take it with me since it's one more thing to pack and I tend to leave it behind - plus I'm not a fan of the small propane bottles ($$$$ plus a lot of waste). I would like to put a catalytic heater into the Boler permenantly and I am looking for a surface mount - or something close to a surface mount catalytic heater. I found a Northstar Flameless on vintage trailer supplies website and it looked kinda like what I have been looking for. Unfortuneatly I can't find a dealer close to home so I can look at it in person.

Is anyone familiar with these? Have any photo's I could look at? Know of a dealer in Canada (Vancouver area)? Any suggestions?

Also - Here's a ink to my makeover project if you want to check it out.

I also have photo's on Flickr, though I have no idea how to give you the link - just search "reno, boler" and look for Jael Morningstars photos.

Thanks
Gail

I just installed a Northstar Sunlite in my UHaul VT16. It was fairly easy conversion from the OEM furnace (thrown out!)
Here is the link their site: http://www.northstarflameless.com/new/rec-3000.html

Hi Gail -

I have the Olympian Wave6 Catalytic heater - it is easily surface mounted.... in fact, that is how mine is mounted. I have had it for three years and would never go back to a battery draining, noisy furnace.

I have no problems with cat heaters personally as long as the rules to their use are understood...Please consider a model that has the oxygen shut off device as part of its design...older ones do not use this technology, it is important if not for you then the next person who might own it and not understand the princilples of operation.
