I have a 79 Boler but the outside door light only works when it is plugged into 110v doesn't work on 12v is this normal?
Thanks Steve

Don't know. Maybe someone with a Boler will jump in soon. However every unit I've ever owned the outside light worked on 12v.

I'm not an expert at all.
But my GF has and old vintage porch light on hers that is 110.
1. Can you check the wiring to the light to see if it is 12v or 110?
2. Why don't you post a photo of it and someone might be able to identify it.

The converter 'converts' the 110 to 12v and will power the light when the trailer is plugged in, with or without a battery. But if the battery is bad (or not hooked up) the light will only work when the trailer is plugged in.

Yes all the lights inside work just the outside one won't work for some reason unless plugged into 110. I will trace the wires and see what I can find although if it's getting 12v when plugged into the wall should have 12v from the battery too. Just thought maybe it was only designed to work off plugin but I couldn't really see why that would be. But if everyone else's works on both I must have something wrong somewhere

A bit of a wild card & low probablitly but have you checked all the fuses on/in your converter?

The DC output voltage of your converter and your battery are not necessarily at the same level .If the outside fixture has a corroded socket ,lamp or connection ,the higher voltage from the converter may be sufficient to overcome the added resistance and light the lamp .
