Oven in a 16 foot Scamp

Hi, everybody. This is my first post although I've been a member for a couple years. I love this community. It has been a huge help to me.

I'm renovating a '73 Compact II and recently bought an '84 13' Scamp. I'm up to my eyeballs in eggs but now we're going to buy a new 16' Scamp. Should I get the oven? My wife loves to bake and I can see her having a lot of fun making cookies. My biggest concern is the additional weight and possible loss of storage space. We're going to get the side shower/toilet and we're also going to get the furnace and have the trailer wired/braced for a future air conditioner. Is getting the oven going to make it too heavy for towing with a small crossover SUV, like a Highlander?

Thanks

I'll try to post threads and photos of my restoration projects.

Hi Doug, to FiberglassRV, we're glad you quit lurking and decided to join us!

Yummm, the smell of fresh baking chocolate chip cookies while camping NIRVANA!

I hope you get the answers you seek!

If I recall the oven over the stove is about 50 lbs difference in weight and you can always store your pots inside so the storage is still there.

I would think the heat from the oven in such a small space would force you outside. That's why we did not get it in ours.

We have a range with oven and roof A/C in the Fiber Stream, and we tow with a Honda Odyssey, which has a nearly equivalent tow rating to a Highlander. At 50 pounds, the oven's weight alone won't be a deal breaker, but a roof A/C unit weighs 120 pounds. Having both plus a microwave (40 pounds) leaves us a thin margin just under towing capacity of the Odyssey.

I use a Camp Chef outside oven. I would absolutely die for an inside oven. Go For It!!

I opted for an oven in my new Escape and dropped the microwave, I figure I can substitute one for the other and did not need both.
