ParkLiner shower drain - kinked hose

Any of you other ParkLiner owners had a kinked shower drain hose? I'd be interested in how you fixed it, what the i.d. of the hose is, what you used for the repair/replacement, etc.

It was previously a minor thing I hoped to have done with other warranty work in May at the factory, but I got bopped out of that long planned trip a week before we were taking 006 down. I have other problems now as a result, but would sure like to fix this drain hose (kinked on both ends, one end real bad) soon, as I can'tr even wash the floor in there without standing water!

Thanks for any help, suggestions and/or advice.

Frank

Pictures! No, no problem with the shower. How is it kinked?

Best I can do. Can't get both ends in at once, and only took the one pic. I think ya can see what I mean!

Can you put a barbed 45 degree plastic fitting into the line? Maybe one at each end. Most home centers sell them and they are not expensive

The "thing" it hooks to under the shower swivels, so with one right angle "thing" this should work.

If the end swivels more than likely the hose is too long. The other fix is the auto parts store carries springs that go around the hose.

45 degree would do it with better flow than 90 degree.

steve I doubt the hose is too long...if it was they could have done a more graceful curve and no bending of the hose....like the idea of the spring though!

Oh and I took a look at mine, no sharp bend they seem to have used a longer piece of hose and can only see 1 end where the sump is, the other goes into the fiberglass heading back to my grey water tank.

I might as well share my newbie experience with a kinked hose. Filling my fresh water tank from a bucket worked OK, but it seemed to take the water slowly. The vent tube was not clogged by mud wasps, all else seemed fine, so what gives? Then, when I was doing something else under the bench where the tank is, I felt where the vent hose is attached to the underside with a clip and found that it was kinked, or actually squeezed. It did pass some air, but not enough. After ten years the plastic hose took a set, but it relaxed after I removed it from the clip, enough for a nice fast fill, finally working as expected.

Here's what I did for now. I don't like the right angle, but it's better than what I had. It's easy to disassemble and play with, so more to come, but for now, I like it. I think the main problem is the placement of the pump, so may have the folks at ParkLiner revisit it when 006 heads south.

By the way, the pic with clamps was fuzzy, so I used the good pics. It's clamped securely.

I see you have a temporary fix...i modded mine a while back as i wanted to be able to drain directly (before) the pump and into a bucket while dispersed camping at times (bio soap and water ok to water plants with in some areas we camp in)... Here is my fix/mod with parts from home depot:

Cheers,
Thom

Very nice Thom, I like it. I don't have that original fitting I don't think, but too late to look right now. Mosquitoes are out for blood (8:30 here). I bought some 45 degree fittings and new clamps yesterday. Maybe I'll pick up a few new things, and do that. Great idea, thanks!

It is just some surplus green colored 1/2" electrical tape i had. I wanted to go overkill between tape and sealant...in my usual style of overbuild, i did not like the idea of the small clamp extra tail being exposed down there...even in the hidden recesses.

I used up the tube but it was a kitchen-food-grade type of sealant (IOW it could come in contact with the flow of water and not cause any harm once cured.) It probably didn't need it as the fit was nice, but again, i really didn't want to crawl under there again.

Thank you for posting the nice pictures. I have been pondering the placement of a valve in the sump line to provide an option to draining the shower to somewhere other than the holding tank.

You are welcome Bob.
My mod (to drain elsewhere) was actually on my original Parkliner build sheet...but was accidentally overlooked in the process. It was not bother and an easy mod. I also created a short ~2ft hose out of parts from home depot that i can then dump into a bucket or link to an additional grey hose if needed to go a longer distance.
