FYI, I removed both strike plates and using a file and Dremel tool removed about a sixteenth of an inch of material from the bottom of each. Now I don't have to pry up on the corner of the door to get them to latch. I tried to deepen the holes for the latch and deadbolts as well but as the screws for the belly band run through the center, all I did was ruin the edge on my chisel.

If you just lock the handle, can you open your door by wiggling it in the frame?

Mine bolt and latch fine, but the door has so much play on the hinges that it can be opened in less than a second if only the handle is locked.

I am having problems with my battery/converter. Previous posts indicate that you may have had the same problem. I am ready to contact the BBB also. I may have met you. Did you happen to stop by and look at my camper north of Birmingham? Not sure if you are the same person or not. If so, do you mind getting my cell from DC and call me?

Right, the "power" of social media... which means that with too many ways to communicate, many companies ignore the universally available ones and instead play around with some poorly functional junk that requires me to use an account. I tried contacting Parkliner long ago through Facebook - they don't handle that properly, either.

Sure can, but until I modified the strike plates, I couldn't even throw the dead bold until I placed my cane under the corner of the door and levered the whole door upward. Way too much play in the hinges. I asked ParkLiner if there was any way to adjust the hinges but, as usual, no response. I expect that the wheel well modification will cost me about $1000 when I pick up my PL on Monday. For now, my personal door lock modification is free and doing the job. Hopefully, the door won't sag further over time and cost additional $$$.

Yup, that is what Cari did on our PL handle lock stike plates also. Though we don't even use the door lock, only the dead bolt.

All that said, I soooooo feel for you two (and i know our PL#35 makes it three). Cari and i were camping this week and she stated, and i agreed, that even with these issues the PL layout is still such a good fit for us.

I am going to attempt contact in ernest with Chandler and if no response will go with your suggestion on contacting the NC Consumer Protection services and let them do their thing. Though i would rather it not come to that for any one.

Last time I actually spoke to Mr. Palethorpe on the phone (several months ago), he assured me that he would put my phone number into the directory on his cell phone so that my name would come up and he would answer or return the call as soon as possible. He lied.

It wasn't me that looked at your camper.

I haven't had any battery/converter problems but there is a whole thread devoted to that. As I recall, there was one person who let the batteries get completely drained, sit, and then during the recharge process they vented. From the posts, even some from the battery manufacturer, it seemed to me the problem is at least in part allowing the batteries to sit completely discharged.

What kind of problems are you you? I might suggest you post in that previous thread related to the batteries. Several folks were following it and it had some great responses that may help you out.

Ha. I don't mean to pile on, but I as a funny (not really funny, haha) part of my experience is that he told me this three times. Each time he forgot he told me the time before. I really did laugh at the time. Not so much now.

The converter was cooking our batteries and overheating. We woke up in the middle of the night with the dogs barking, a hissing sound and the smell of sulfur. The underside of the plywood was scorched as well. That was in June..... Need i say more? Thanks for the input about the other threads. I will definitely check them out.

My solution is well documented on my thread, in summary, i chose to spend the $ on an Optima brand charger (1200 digital) for the Optima Blue tops in our PL#35 after discussing the needs of the Optimas with both the Progressive Dynamic techies (you should have a PD4045 in your rig) and the Optima techs. I have really appreciated the Optima charger doing what it's designed to do. The batteries are charged now in about ~8 hours rather than several days of waiting with the PD unit.

I sincerely hope those better circumstances come. My pre and post sales experiences would dictate otherwise. While standing face to face and conversing with Chandler, you can't help but empathize with someone who is obviously passionate about what he does, and is, in many ways, seemingly clueless as to how is is going to accomplish it. I have met Chandler, I have met his employees, I have met one of his children. I wish none of them any ill will. I do not wish to make a lifetime commitment to tilting at the windmill named ParkLiner. I expected the value that I was promised for the price that I paid. If Chandler chooses to not live up to this promise, he will probably fail. That will not be my doing, it will be his own. There are many orphan FGRVs out there. I don't want to make a career of litigation with ParkLiner, I'd rather be camping. We will make ours roadworthy, with or without Chandler's help, because it suits us. We will make such improvements as we find necessary and are consistent with our lifestyle. We will not let this failure of one company's promises define our lives. We are sorry it has come to this.

The company you are complaining about doesn't have to be a member of BBB.
I just had my furnace at home replaced. I checked out the company ( which has been in business for more than 50 years ). They are not a BBB member, but BBB gives them an A+ rating, with no complaints reported.
So, anyone checking ParkLiner on the BBB site will discover that there are several unresolved complaints and I suspect the rating will be significantly lower than A+.

When a firm is not a member of the BBB, a complaint about that firm to the BBB is not likely to get very far. The BBB has no teeth to influence a non-member.

The lack of after-the-sale assistance is truly disappointing. Owners of a five-figure purchase should not be left to fend for themselves.

Do PL owners receive any written warranty? If so, and depending on its provisions, PL could be in breach of it.

I don't think BBB has any sharper teeth if the company is a member. What can they do? They report the complaints, try to resolve them and give them a rating.
Most they can do is refuse to let the company use the BBB logo ( and that doesn't stop some companies from using it without authorization ).
In any event, complaints to BBB are recorded and the existence of complaints appears on the BBB site, whether the company is a member or not.
