Poor fit of Scamp door.

I must say…. When my Scamp door was hung at the factory the person that did the work must have been drunk or stoned.

The upper hinge was OK but the lower wasn't even close to horizontal. All in all the entire door was not straight.

It wasn't even cut correctly…..

The unfinished front edge had a wave you could surf on.

Anyway……

Today I removed the door, put a tape line on the long sides, worked them over with my grinder and re-drilled the lower (door side) hinge holes.

The result……

Now my door has parallel hinges, straight sides and fits the door frame correctly.

Took about an hour.

Yes….. I should have thought of that before hand.

Really, the difference is very subtle but the door glides open and closed now.

Before, the springs in the lower hinge would make noise and bind.

The year of your trailer isn't in your profile, so I haven't a clue how old the trailer may be..... Did you replace the brass in the hinge before you rehung the door?

Oh sorry. My scamp is a 98. An unused 98 (camped in twice).

Hinge hardware is as new so I didn't replace.

Putting a little lube on the brass ball helps with the binding and noise.

Sounds like a great fix. Come on down to the NOG and show off your solution! http://www.fiberglassrv.com/forums/f...0-a-40089.html
