I hear you Dave,
I was thinking the 2-1/2" size would fill the 2-1/2" hole and any gaps like the water inlet in the middle picture. I guess you would need both in hand to be sure.

I did this type of mod on my Compact Jr. I did not use the Marinco unit mentioned, but one from a different manufacturer. Mine took a LOT of machining plastic and adhesive to accomplish it. It's the fitting to the upper left.

The rest of the story

That was awhile ago. I ended up making an adapter plate to fit the 15 amp fixture into the existing cover.
