My new PD4045 came pre-wired on the DC side. Small lengths of wire run from the back of the unit. The positive and negative to the
battery are 10 AWG. From all that I have been reading, this would necessitate putting the batteries right next to the converter due to voltage drop. The
battery in my Lil
Bigfoot is located in a storage box at the front. I want to locate the converter under the front bunk, which is about 5 feet from the
battery. Taking into account positive and negative cables, this is a 10 foot run. From the charts I have in the books by Moeller and Barre, I would need 4 AWG wiring (Huge) because it is a 45amp converter/charger. Is this right? If so, the current 10 AWG wires coming out of the converter do not look as if they would be easy to replace due how they initiate out of what looks like a computer board that also houses the fuses. It doesn't look like this would accomodate 4 AWG wire. Any ideas on how I should proceed?
Thank you,
Carl
