I need to fabricate some type of mount for my 20 lb gas cylinder ..... Anyone done this that wants to share their idea (pics would be great)
Looking for some simple system

Look on Amazon, "propane tank mount". I like the one by Nashfuel, but there are others

What I have done for several LP tank mounts is to make a frame out of angle iron to fence in the base ring and then secure the tank via the base ring with blind bolts at the front and back, using standard existing holes in the base rings. It has a clean appearance, they never come loose and stealing a tank is next to impossible. They can be removed for refilling if necessary in about 5 minutes.

Maybe I misspoke i have brackets on the tongue (small tabs) that fit the base of the cylinder... What I'm looking for are some type of straps/ chain turnbuckle system ideas
Sorry for any confusion
I was also considering threaded rod and unistruct
Any thoughts ideas or pics ???

You might try eBay, I have seen replacement LP tank tie-downs in the RV parts and supplies category.

I have a small (8') Starcraft Meteorite Pop-up trailer in addition to the teardrop & MFG trailers (use it for hunting/fishing trips, me only). When I bought it the propane cylinder was held to the 'A' frame rack only by bungees (towed it home from Tyler, TX like that but was sure worried). I'd seen a 'tie-down' arrangement using metal straps & threaded bolts so I looked in my 'junk pile' & found some 5/16" 'all-thread' & 3' or so of 3/4" x 1/8" steel strap. I cut the all-thread into usable lengths, drilled appropriate holes in the tongue rack & bolted the all-thread on. Cut needed lengths of the steel strap & bent it in a shop vise to fit the propane cylinder, with a 90degree tab on each strap. Drilled the tab to fit the all-thread, 'hooked' the upper end of the straps to the cylinder 'collar' & tightened 'em down using 5/16" wing nuts. I suppose someone could take the nuts off & abscond with the cylinder but if they're willing to go to that much trouble, guess they can have it... They've been painted but without primer & are needing it again. Since it's my hunting/fishing rig I dunno if I want it to look too good

Harvey's rigging is good. There are commercially available straps that are very similar.
I would add a cable or chain with padlock to both discourage theft and keep the tank from being lost if the bolts or straps failed. It would only take 30-60 seconds to remove the chain or cable when it was time to refill.

Good idea Gordon! I'll look into acquiring one of the cable type bicycle locks to better secure the cylinder. My camper is often left alone for hours in some pretty remote locations. I'll probably feel better with the cylinder secured in some way along with the hitch lock I use on the coupler...

I found that my safety chains could be employed to padlock the propane tanks when not hooked up. Only did it once for the picture though.

Unfortunately the manufacturer ( Nashfuel) is out of stock and delivery is scheduled for the latter part of October.
I wanted to buy one from ebay and that is what they told me whne I asked about delivery. I canceled my order since I need a mount before then The two clamp mount is in stock for about another $20.00 ($121.99).

I made mounts almost exactly like those by Harvey, except I used 1/8" strips of aluminum (from Lowe's-cheap). I bent them to hook onto the upper collar/handle just like Harvey did. Threaded galvanized rods attach them to the frame below. Nothing will rust and this is an easy do it yourself project.
