Propane tank holder: going from double to single tank

I would like to carry only one propane tank around instead of two. My clamp won't work with a single tank, just with two because the threads in the vertical rod don't go low enough to work. I know this is very basic, but how can I go around with just one tank?

Amazon sells a couple types of single tank holders. Probably available from RV parts suppliers too. Many smaller campers, like pop-ups, only used one tank.

Could you find some type container to use instead of the second tank? A bucket or storage box might be useful.

Some years ago I made one out of strapping.

I cut 3 legs and bent them on the bottom as a foot, attaching them to the tongue with bolts. I took another piece of strapping and wrapped it around the tank to get it mould it round and then attached it to the top of the
legs. I had at least 2 to 3 inch excess on the band which was used with a bolt and wing nut to tighten and snug the propane tank in it's "new holder"

I liked this type of holder because all I had to do was loosening the wing nut and lift the tank out. Since it was so easy to remove I added a chain and a couple of locks so the tank couldn't walk off.

I forgot to mention that the nuts holdiing the band to the legs are on the inside and covered with little blocks made of plastic. Those blocks are what butt up to the tank, so nothing metal hits the tank.

The guy I bought the trailer from changed over from 2 tanks to 1.
You don't need 2 tanks.
Also cuts down on some weight.

I went down to one 11 lb tank on our Casita. Converted hot water heater to electric and we haven't used the stove or furnace in 7 months of camping.

I made some hold downs and used some turnbuckles from Lowe's to tighten them .
Straps like the top of what is pictured above and attached to the angle below.
