The fact that the propane won't be used in the trailer means that you don't need a regulator, or a place to mount the regulator. I think most trailers mount the regulator separately from the tanks (i.e. not sharing any kind of bracket), so it would be appropriate to use a tank bracket just like those used for a "normal" (plumbed into the trailer) installation.
Ask at RV parts dealers for a "propane tank bracket" and that should produce some options.
