I finally got a key made for my 72 Boler American but am now puzzled about one thing. While the key works just fine from the outside, I see no way to lock the door from the inside. As I am about to take off for a camping trip from my home in Missoula to pick up my daughter in Vancouver BC and will be spending several nights alone along the way, the security factor is a consideration. I'm fairly certain that this is the original lock and handle although not 100%. Any clues anyone? Thanks, Sara

There is a small hole to push in a metal peg the size of a 16d nail that locks the door. Hang
it on a piece of dental floss or a little chain.
At least that's the way mine works.

On My captain I have to turn the handle just off horizontal on the inside to engage the lock. I do not have a key made for it yet and have to leave the window open to unlock it if it does lock me out. Bryan

Ours has a toggle lever on it. If you flip the toggle, it locks the door from the outside but it will still open from the inside. You will need 2 people to test yours. One inside, one outside.

Security

I had a simple U-shaped handle installed in the middle of the door, and at night inserted a 3/4" dowel through it. The dowel was about 4 feet long, long enough to sit strongly against both side of the door frame.
As well, I keep my car key near-by during the night; it's emergency alarm would give notice that I'm being bothered.
I also put out TWO lawn chairs.
I did NOT stay in remote areas, and if I was paying, I asked the attendant to put me near other people. At Wal-mart, I always parked close to others.
BTW, was never bothered in 3 months of travel, whether in a Wal-mart parking lot, or a well-attended camp ground.
Paranoid? No. Prudent? Yes.
