Question Question on Scamp bunk beds width? Wide enough for adult?

I been looking online at a 1992 Scamp with the front bunk beds (layout 4. My question how wide are they? Wide enough for a good nights sleep for an adult?

I would say maybe, and that depends on the size of your adult. They are only 24" wide. I've napped in my lower bunk and thought it was fine, but it's hard to apply that to a whole night.

Thanks. Are the side dinettes are 24" wide as well?

I used to sleep on the bottom bunk of our Scamp 13 and found it fine and I am 5'10". It's a little hard getting in with the top bunk up but quite comfy as long as you are not claustrophobic!

Several people I know use the front area for sleeping in an S-13. Both removed the seat back (upper bunk) to give more room for sleeping. Both are single travelers and leave the rear table in the up position.

Question on Scamp bunk beds width? Wide enough for adult?

I sleep on the bottom bunk regularly & comfortably. Width is fine. Length is barely adequate (I 'm 5'8"). Headroom with top bunk in place is limited, but I can turn over without my shoulders bumping the top bunk, so I'm good. It's not for tall, heavy, or claustrophobic people. Think Navy bunks.

Top bunk is for kids only. There is no published weight limit, but I wouldn't go much over 100#. I did test it myself (160#) before I let my daughter sleep on it - no creaks or signs of collapse, but 100# seems to be the general consensus here. You'll need to rig up a safety rail. Don't know why Scamp doesn't provide one, but lots of good ideas on this site for how to do it.

I'm 240 and I've laid down on the top bunk without a problem. I often leave it up for a longer top bed in my 5'er, so I'm crawling off and on it all the time.

Jared,
Would not the top bunk in a 5'r have a different structural support than the small supporting tab of FG below the window of a 13?

In the front double bunk you take off the top bunk, the bottom bunk gets more room than 2 people in the rear bunk on the smaller bed early models. At least in my 1986 Scamp 13 footer. Adult sleeping on the top bunk isn't likely to happen not enough room to roll over in the night. Too much ballast hanging over the side. you need narrow little people up there. But I personally know a 200 lb adult will be supported on the top bunk with out anything come crashing down in a unit in good shape. I climbed my fat ass up there to make sure before I would subject one of the grand kids up there. Its scary up there with a full size person trying to maneuver without crashing down. The gravitational pull is much higher up there, than standing on the floor. Especially while thinking of slamming into the counter top on the way down.

Could be, I have no idea. It's a strip of particle board fiberglassed into the front wall, and two poles down to the couch.
