I'm not familiar with how your awning is attached. We don't have one...
My thought was if the space between the trailer and the awning roller was too wide to be filled with a non-silicon sealant then a gutter would channel the majority of the water away and possible overhang the gap enough to eliminate it altogether.
It was just a thought.
Good idea on raising the center of the run.
