The new one will be $682.83 with unit and tax. I found a new one close so no shipping. And that is not installed. Installation is an additional $225. That takes me to $907.83. Ouch.

The installation is super-simple, especially if there's no 12volt connection.

I really encourage you to think about installing it yourself. Gas compression fittings are very easy to work with, and the 110v "connection" is probably just an ordinary plug.

I also recommend that the whole gas system be pressure tested once you're done- that shouldn't cost more than $20.00 or so.
(Note: I have this done once a year anyway as ordinary maintenance and so don't consider it to be an extra expense)

Thank you Francesca. I think I'll give it a shot. I'm thinking if I take photos as I take the old one out that will help guide me as I reverse the process. Who do you go to the pressure testing? A RV place?

Good idea on the pictures! I often do that when I take something apart...

Yes- I go to a local RV sales/service place for the pressure test. You also might be able to get it done at a propane supply place....I'd call around for prices. If you do, be sure to tell them it's a VERY small system- bigger rigs than ours probably take longer to do, and I presume that would affect the quoted price.

I brought home a new rm 2351 dometic refrigerator for Bennie my burro. Francesca says I can do the install myself. I'll start trying to pull the old one tomorrow. Exciting!

We're all pulling for ya!

My remodeling-with-gas Tip of The Day:

I hate that little "poof" of gas that always seems to bleed out when disconnecting lines. I always light a stove burner, THEN turn the gas off at the tank, disconnect the cylinder, and wait for the burner to sputter out on its own....seems to purge the lines pretty well.

Be sure to post pics of your brand new fridge install!

Francesca
