Thumbs up

I,m refurbishing my Trillium and I,ve recently reglued the ensolite in a bunch of different places ,sags, seams etc, but one place which happens to be a sag towards an upper corner just doesn,t want to glue up properly. I peeled it back to get into the sag ,and I first tried with the gel contact adhesive ,coated both surfaces, dry to touch,(as used everywhere else with success) tried twice, no go, then tried regular contact, still no success. I,m thinking of trying a no more nails adhesive. Anyone got any suggestions? Thanks B.Wilkin

Hi: BrynW...Poss. the Ensolite has shrunk away from the corner. Try a hair dryer to warm the vinyl surface and ply it into the corner with the palm of your hand. As always work carefully it's old stuff even if it is tough.

I've had great success with contact cement myself - with substantial stretching required. I'm surprised it didn't work for you. Reapplying a second coat of contact cement might help? Or peeling it back a bit more to get more stretchability? Also, got to get the corners and edges on first.

Well I finally got around to trying the reglue of sagging ensolite in the corner. After the previous failures I thought maybe the interior fibreglass surface was contaminated with oil or wax somehow ,so this time I peeled things back enough to get into the sag with a rag soaked in acetone, wiped the surfaces as much as possible, and successfully glued it all up with no problem! So if anyone ever has a similar problem try wiping with acetone.
