replacing a furnace with an AC, Scamp 16

We have a Scamp 16 Deluxe and we have decided that we need an AC and have no use for the factory installed furnace. Has anyone replaced a furnace with an AC? If so what for an AC will fit the "box"?

will not work, most a/c's are on the roof, fit in the existing 14x14 vent opening, perhaps a custom thru the wall unit but it will involve a lot of fiberglass work and moving propane and adding electric. you may want to keep the furnace and just add the ceiling a/c. contact scamp and verify your roof is strong enough.

Like CPH said keep the furnace, think of resale future. Look at a Casita 16 older maybe 90 to 94 they installed AC on the floor to the right of the entrance door. Or you can find a unit to fit the back window.

Ok. I understand about resale value, however, can't put AC on roof of an 1986 Scamp (according to Scamp). I would still like to use the opening in the fiberglass currently occupied by the furnace.

Ok,
not concerned with resale then go ahead and start your project and
be sure and post pictures as you progress….

Bill, I think you may have a hard time finding a small enough ac that fits into the small area the furnace is in. Prior to Scamp putting the AC on the roof on the regular scamp with the side bathroom the AC was in the bottom part of the tall closet by the door. I dont know where they put them in the deluxe - above the fridge perhaps?

Perhaps Scamp can tell you if they havent already where they installed them in the Deluxe in the good old days prior to roof mounts. Or perhaps looking through the sold section of the Fiberglass-rv-4sale.com you might find a photo of one.
