Replacing scamp door seal

Evening all, I'm working on replacing my scamp door seal with the new style seal, and I was wondering how scamp is handling the bottom of the door now, specifically the corners. The old foam just goes over the top of the trim in the corners, which doesn't seem like it'll work with new rubber seal.

Can someone with the newer style seal let me know how they are set up, or if you've replaced it already, let me know what you did.

As always, thanks in advance

Paul

Any ideas on this one, hoping someone with a newer scamp, or someone who has replaced the seal could give me some insight.

Thanks,

Paul

Removed old foam seal (using much effort plus WD-40, brake cleaner, alcohol, Goo Gone, etc.)

Installed new gasket up one side, over the top, and down the other side (with the flange out) right up next to the white door trim. Will do bottom fairly soon now.

Seal is very good. So far, door is a little harder to pull completely closed against new seal. Bottom of side near door hinges came loose once and had to reattach with automotive trim cement (or gasket adhesive?)

Hopefully, others may provide better explanations.

Good luck!

Ray

I love the new seal, but I recommend using square solid closed cell foam for the threshold.

Are you guys talking about the outside door? I don't think mine even has a seal. It's a Bigfoot 1985. I guess I need to see IF it's suppose to have a seal on it. This poor trailer hasn't had any TLC in awhile I don't think.

It is an outside door seal supplied for Scamp trailers.

Below is a picture on how I did it. I don't know if it is right or wrong but it seems to work and I am happy with it. Note that I had 1 seal all the way around except on the bottom I had two seals. I forgot how to rotate the picture. Sorry.

This is a perfect picture, thank you much.

Both the closed cell foam and double seals are a good idea.

Interesting that you didn't go over the trim piece. The old original foam did go over the trim piece, and I was wondering how people were handling that.

Thanks for all the help so far.

I completed the install of the new door seal. It looks phenomenal in comparison to the old foam seal, and it is definitely harder to close. I'll try to post a few pics tomorrow.

We'll see after we get out there and use it some, but it's definitely a worthwhile upgrade.

Is the seal attached to the door or the door jam?
