replacing the dual tank holder for a scamp

OK I had a fun time with my scamp. Had the center post on the dual tank system start to come loose. When I looked at it the whole thing had rusted out from the bottom. No this was not a factory install. Apparently this was just a someone installing it. In a way I am glad that it rusted out. Found out the after market people had installed it with two count them two small screws. :-( Wonder if didn't like come off the hitch. :-(

Anyway got one from scamp and got it installed. Took some pictures of the process yeah two grade 5 1/4 bolts through the front frame. Anyone wanting more details would be glad to help. Here are some pictures of the process.

A Couple things I did, it came black. I liked the while on the old one so repainted it. Also used under coat on the bottom of the pan. Also used under coat on the frame where the old one was removed.

Nice work.

Thatís a lot of gas. I couldnít handle the weight on the tongue for my tow vehicle. Iíve been out for 2 weeks since I got the Scamp in July and the tank remains plenty full. Iíve only dry camped for three days. How long does a tank last you typically?

Actually how long it last depends. Frankly mostly I finish off the current one I am drawing from with my BBQ and get a new tank for the camper so I have one full and one part full all the time. But yeah for most things probably one tank would go the whole summer. But if I am using my furnace then it goes faster. And if I am operational with an incident in the winter and I am a control point, I have used a bottle a day.

The big thing is that this way I can have a mostly empty one and not have to swap it until it is fully empty if that is the need. Plus frankly it came that way.

Now what I need is a tank heater of some kind because in really cold weather the tanks get to cold and stop providing gas.

Actually I use it for normal camping, work some, and then a lot for doing volunteer emergency and disaster support.
