Hi all,
We've recently bought a 1981 17 ft.
Bigfoot and are new to the
Fiberglass RV site. We're slowing doing a few minor repairs and are really glad to have discovered your group! We need to replace the torn screening in one of the
windows. We've replaced the screening in the kitchen window and screen door with no problems but the other
windows are totally different. It almost looks like the screens were permanently attached to the window frames. We can't figure out how to replace the screening other than to remove the complete window unit from the trailer and that just seems too weird of a design! The screen on the kitchen window is typical - it's in it's own frame that slides and can be removed, then remove the round, rubber-type tubing, replace the screening, re-insert the tubing to hold the screening in place and pop the frame back into the window. The side
windows, though, aren't in a separate frame. The screening seems to be attached right into the base of each window pane. I dunno - has anyone else got the same type of weird windows? And has anyone tried to replace the screening on them? It seems like there has got to be another way than taking out the whole window from the trailer just to replace a torn screen! Help!
