Rewire-Adding electric brake to 13' Scamp

I have this 13' Scamp that need to rewire the 7 way trailer pin ,brake light, and all the wire to add the new electric brake . The original wiring don't have the wiring junction box and all the wiring is inside the camper under the front seat so now I have to figure out which wire is which ? I order the color coded junction box but still don't know where to start ? Any advice and suggestion will be great. Thank you.

Trailer brake wiring

Do you have a brake controller in your vehicle yet?

I dont think Scamp ever used a junction box, although its a good idea and I added one. I put mine under the front seat but most people put them on the tongue (outside).

Start with the Scamp wiring diagram and use your multi meter to check voltages and continuities to verify everything. Dont assume by color alone. Probably will want a helper to make connections, turn things on and off, etc. Just don't burn out your meter on the continuity (Ohms) settings. If you don't know what that means then I suggest finding someone with some low voltage electrical and wiring knowledge to help with this in person.

Photo is my umbilical cord with junction box, mixed in with my solar and Trimetric stuff.

Scamp wiring

Hi,
I have a 2003 13' Scamp as one of our trailers and the wiring goes as follows:
Black: 12 volt hot
White: Ground
Brown: Right turn signal
Red: Left turn signal
Yellow: Back-up lights (that's the one in your picture with fuse)
Green: Running lights
Blue: Electric Brake Control wire

I mounted a plastic water proof junction box out on the front frame of my trailer so that testing various things was easier.

You should always check what the wires are for as previously mentioned.

Good luck,
Bob

Yes, I have the brake control and the wire all install from the last camper.

I installed a junction box with a new 7 pin round connector on my Trillium. Cost me $20 on eBay. In my case the original hook up plug was shot anyway. I did a write up on the installation on this forum a few months ago.

The 78 boler has only the inverter that turns 110v to 12v and has two pop up beakers one from battery and the other for outside connection and a 110v 15 amp breaker above this box. The factory setup failed us when a surge happened. The fridge has its own switch to 110v inside it for while shore connected. All other items are 12v. We do not have 110v available while on battery; something to consider adding as well as a breaker box inside it would allow putting the surge protection inside if outside cable was cut into a fuse box before the inverter. space is very limited in this area would have to place in front boot on driver side of the trailer.
