Rivets?

I've got an '83 - 13' Scamp. It's well traveled, endured several owners, and has had "surgery" more times than a cadaver. What's the best way to deal with leaky rivets? Can I just drill them out and replace them, or do I need to find larger rivets of ... aluminum?

That's a good question Tom. We have a few 1000 of them holding our trailer together but don't recall ever having to replace one. I'm sure there are folks on the forum here than can answer your question. If not head over to Airforums.com and without a doubt you will get an answer there.

Get your popcorn out and watch this:

A little butyl tape wrapped around the rivet before reinserting it will help stop leaks. I think Scamp puts silicone on the head of the rivet, but butyl might be better.

The butyl is probably a good idea as Silicon will in time corrode aluminum. Silicon and aluminum don't play well together.
