Rockwell American Tires with Rims

Princess Auto has a sale on for the tires I need;175R13C
$100.00 for each combo
This looks like a good deal
Anyone have feedback on this tire.?
My 1977 Trillium appears to have room for 14’s which was previously a consideration.
This bargain may delay the switch up till later down the road.
Does this sound like wise move?

Rockwell American Tires? I'm an "American", and frankly I've never heard of them. Just my 2 cents. Doesn't offer a lot of help, I know, but it sounds like some kind of "Brand X" tires. Let us know how they work and hold up for you if you do buy them.

As an aside, I would also recommend upgrading to 14" wheels if you have the room. There are many more tires available in 14" than there are in 13". Plus they would probably be available in a higher Load Range than the 13" tires offer. Little bit smoother ride as well with larger wheels.

I would consider upgrading to 14" rims and installing Goodyear Endurance tires.

Most likely, they are made in China, but some major American tire manufacturers make "private brand" tires for retail sale. Firestone makes tires for Pep Boys and Sears. Goodyear owns Kelly Springfield and Kelly Springfield makes tires for Sears, Walmart, and I'm sure others. It's a real guess as to who made the tire. If a tire gets a bad reputation, it's easy for the manufacturer to changed the name and nothing else. Good luck!

If you do go with 14" tires, Ford Ranger rim work nice. They have a nearly 0 offset. But you may need to grind out the center a bit, which makes them difficult to balance later. Be careful though, the Rangers only came with 14" rims early on, (pre 2000?).

You could possibly even go with a 15" rim with lower profile tires.
( Eg. My 185 75R14 tires are almost exactly the same height as 225 60R 15 tires.) There are tires comparison programs on the internet.

Good idea. Just installed a new set of endurance 14" with new rims. They are also load range D and USA made stamped on tires

I am guessing that those are not trailer tires.

The 185 75R14 is the equivalent size of the trailer tires I have on right now. The program I was using didn't have trailer size matches so I had to find an equivalent size.

True, they would not be Special Trailer (ST) tires, but they'll still have lots of capacity.

• An ordinary (Standard Load) 225/60R15 has a load index of 96 (1423 pounds per tire with 1.1 derating factor for trailer service)
• An ordinary (Standard Load) P225/60R15 has a load index of 95 (1383 pounds per tire with 1.1 derating factor for trailer service)
