Roof air for a 1981 17' Bigfoot

That is the same as ours except it's in the rear where there is no structure to support the roof.

The roof on my 1981 17 ft BIGFOOT has a wavy look to it and has low spots both front and rear. I am considering a roof A/C unit but I have serious doubts about the weight!

Any other early BIGFOOTs on here with roof air?

Whether your Bigfoot roof will support the air conditioner I cannot say for sure. I can tell you that we have a 1986 Bigfoot 17' with a wavy roof and roof air that was added about a year after manufacture. We recently replaced the gasket that seals the a/c to the roof. The guys at Camping World were walking all over the roof. They said that our roof was plenty strong enough for them and the a/c.
