Rookie Hunter Compact Owner

Hi everyone. This is my very first post. I purchased a very neat little camper from a guy here in Minnesota last fall. It had very few markings on it and the title plate was very vague. I have been doing lots of research the last couple days to figure out what it is and I have run into several dead ends. I have figured out it is a Hunter Compact, but don't know much more about it. It is 6x10 with a pop up in the kitchen area. It is white in color, but has a massive stripe decal running from the top half to the bottom half. I have found many photos similar to it, but not exactly like it. I can't figure out what model year it is either. It is in pretty good shape. The pop up material is pretty roughy and so are the cushions, but all other issues are very minor. I paid $300 for it. My questions are 1) was it a good buy 2) what is it worth 3) can anyone tell me exactly what I have?

Hunter Structures in Chatsworth, CA made 2 models, the Jr. and the II. The Jr. has a raised upper roof that is almost the full length of the trailer and has rectangular side windows. The II has a raised upper roof that is about 1/2 the length of the trailer and side windows were parallelograms. Here is a link to photos of my 1973 Jr. Some models were labeled "Compact" and some were labeled "Hunter". $300 is a very good buy.

Do you have any idea what year mine may be? The pop up is the half length kind. Do you have any idea the value or resale market?

I think you'll find that the trailer is a Trails West Campster.

Look at the trailers in the Gallery. The Hunter Compact II pop top has the scissor lift for the pop top on the inside, plus the front is not flat. The basic look is very similar to the Hunter Compact Jr., but you need to find a Campster to look at.

I can't guess the year, but others will know more. You might check the serial number to help with that. It should be stamped on the tongue area near the front coupler.

Good luck. Check the for sale trailers to see what they are asking.

This has a California inspection plate just to the left of the door. Serial # 0293. Nothing on the hitch

Dang it, I tried to post the pic for you and even I can't do get it to post.

Then I tried to edit it and ended up losing the whole post. Geezzzzzzz I am thinking something forum based is going on, as to why your pic won't post. But I could be wrong. I got it saved to my computer but it won't upload.

You scored alright! Adorable!

Gonna give it another whirl at getting your pic to upload. Ok, just as I tried to upload a message came up, saying invalid file something. So maybe it is your pic. Sorry I couldn't figure it out for you.

If this works, it should show a picture of a Trails West Campster from the Gallery.

I think Dave is right! Still a cute trailer..........

Look at the windows on the Trails West, more rounded off, soft curve
The Compacts are more square and larger.
