Rust on Trailer

We have our Casita 17' SD winterized now and feel sooooo!!! much better. LET THE SNOW FLY!!!! We are ready except for touching up the paint job on our trailer. Could anyone out there recommend the best type of paint to use for this? Of course understanding that we will be getting rid of the rust first. Thanks

rust

:wave Hello Sara.
we were at the World Ag Expo in Tulare, ca last febuary and ran across a vendor selling Rust Doctor (www.therustdoctor.com).
we bought a couple of gallons (we have a lot of rusty metal for welding projects, etc.) about $140.00. they sell it in smaller containers.
it turns rust into magnetite (another metal) so that it can be painted or whatever.
hope this helps.

There is a product called Extend (phosphoric acid-based spray or small brush bottle) which is intended as a rust-stopper and primer. The marine outfitters in Tampa sell phosphoric acid-based products by the gallon for shrimpers and other pro marine users.

If you drive on Pac NW Canadian gravel roads, be sure to rinse well underneath afterwards as they often use Calcium Choloride (the moisture attractant used in Dri-Z-Air) to keep dust down.
