S-L-O-W Sink Drain

The galley sink in our Scamp 13' drains very slowly and has since day one. My guess is it's a simple fix, yet the access below the sink is challenging at best. I'd be interested to know if anyone else has experienced this and more importantly, the solution.

Easier to check the vent first - maybe partially plugged by critters (mud dauber nest?)

Do you have the permanent gray water holding tank under the trailer, or do you have the portable one outside the trailer?

We had a problem with our grey water jug once. I shortened the hose and moved the tank closer to the outlet. Our hose is not sealed where it goes into the jug so it can vent.

I have been wanting a tank installed under the trailer, but have wondered how they vent. Will be interesting to read the replies you get.

Besides venting, your drain hose may be collapsed check out the line to the tank and make sure it is not kinked. You can also disconnect the hose at the tank input behind your converter and see how fast the water drains into an open container. There is also a trap under the sink you can check.

The tank on a 13 had two hose barbs on top that come up through the floor near the converter. The sink hooks to one and the vent hose hooks to the other. The vent hose loops up under the seat then it exits through the floor. Later modes also have a connector on the back of the tank for the shower drain if equipped. I installed a tank in my 2005 S-13.

The Scamp's gray tank has a hose the comes out of the top of the gray tank that must serve as a vent and possibly an overflow.

Its possible as others suggest that the pipe has a little kink in it preventing full out flow. Or someone poured something down the drain that has clogged the pipe. Disconnect the hose from the sink P trap and run a wire snake down it to see if there is any resistance. Also possible the P trap under the sink has something stuck in it - easy to take off and check.

Yep, the drain hose was collapsed at the fitting to the holding tank. I did a quick temporary fix while Scamping this weekend. Believe I'll install a pvc elbow at that juncture to avoid the plastic drain hose collapse. Thanks, all!
