Sales tax on purchase...how much?

I was told that it didn't matter what you pay for a trailer...that the sales tax (15% here in Nova Scotia) will be determined based on their red? book value?

Has anyone had to pay more tax then what would be calculated on the actual purchase price?

Every state/province has their own rules. You need advice from someone in Nova Scotia.

My understanding is that the book value calculation only applies to trailers a few years old, When it comes to the older, long out-of-production modles (mine is an 1982 Fiber Stream) the only possible source of datya is the bill of sale.
