Hi everyone! First-time caller, long-time listener here. We just bought our 13'
Scamp a couple of weeks ago, and I decided I wanted to take out the carpet and install some really smart-looking vinyl tile.
It's going great so far. I got the carpet and the pad ripped out, with the help of a multi-tool from Harbor Freight (as suggested by someone here). A couple of questions:
1) I've been sanding with the 80 grit that comes with the multi-tool. For the life of me, some of this adhesive residue just won't budge. If I sand it really well, and clean it really well, will it matter? Should I go to a higher grit and see what happens? I'm a little leery of over-sanding, since there's not very much to the floor.
2) As I started to work on the dining/bed area, I noticed that the very back of the floor has taken on a little water. It's from a window leak that we knew about from the prior owner. It's really not a lot of water. I'm bleaching it and letting it dry fully before I even touch it. It's only the back 1/5 of the floor. Do I need to replace that section of the floor? Could I tap in a plywood overlay as an easy fix? It's not really a visible part of the interior, so I don't mind the aesthetic implications.
Thanks! I'll post pics of the
Scamp and the project as soon as it's finished!
