Scamp 5th wheel out of alignment

I have a 1992 Scamp 5th wheel that has one wheel out of alignment and wearing out tires. When I took it to an alignment shop they told me that their equipment couldn’t attach to the axle because there wasn’t enough room since the axle was too close to the bottom of the frame. Has anyone dealt with this problem? What did you do?

Sounds like a bent axle. Many videos online on how to measure.

Axle will need to be straightened or replaced most likely.

Either way, it will most likely have to come off trailer.

Casita axles are delicate, do not jack on the axle, jack on the frame.

I would measure first. Straight edge on wheel to determine angle of defect. Also measure a triangle from center point on front to see if axle is crooked.

On our Casita we had the same problem even when it was new. We took it to an axle shop. The had to cut the axle and reweld it in correct place. Measuring it was hard since even an 1/8-1/4 inch off can cause the tire wear and you can be off by that much easily in your measuring. If your Scamp has the original axle it is probably time to replace it anyway. An alignment shop isn't the best place for a trailer unless they are specialists on trailers also.
