Could anyone who is not snowed in measure the width of the closet door opening for me, as i have found a nice 5500 btu unit but want to be sure its not too wide,i dont want to have to cut the opening if i can avoid it. TIA Don

Overall inside closet width is right at 18", the closet opening in my '83 Scamp was just at 14"...I had to notch my opening 1/4" on each side to get my 5000BTU unit to fit. BTW, its easier to work from the outside than in. You will be cutting a hole, maybe two, on the outside wall to allow intake and exhaust.

Be SURE you have allowed for excess moisture to drain out of the trailer and can inspect the flooring under the a/c easily -- Something like this is a prime way to put moisture on the floor over a long period of time, even if just condensate from cool parts, not just that removed from the air normally.

Don, as a newbie to FiberglassRV you perhaps haven't had a chance to view Lance MacArthur's installation in his (used to be) Blue Boler. I've looked at these picture a bunch of times and think it's great. The best part, is the A/C is removable and you won't need to haul the weight around when you don't need it...you could then (probably) use the space for other things.
