Scamp Door Hinge Screws

I need to know the secret to these things.

The screws holding my door hinges on are pretty rusted on the outside, and starting to get rusted on the inside. I was able to take the acorn nuts off all the screws and was able to remove one test screw on the trailer side of the hinge.

When I went to the door side though, they won't budge. They are older slot type screws which is part of my problem, I hate slot type screws and will be replacing with phillips. I went out and bought the biggest screwdriver I could find, it has a wider and thicker head than my other screw drivers, but I'm starting to mess up the head on these screws.

So do they loctite these things in or what? I've hit them with penetrating oil and I'm going to let that soak tonight and give it another go tomorrow, but thought I would ask here incase someone has a good trick I don't know.

If I end up damaging these screws is drilling them out my only other option?

They may have had sealer applied before they were inserted through the shell. Since you have the hinge off, take two nuts and install them on the screw shaft and tighten them against each other. (a jam nut arrangement). Once they are tight then you should be able to break the screw loose by putting pressure with a wrench an the outer nut and turn screw the back into the trailer.
I just pulled the hinges off a Scamp and put Butyl tape behind the hinges before installing stainless acorn nuts because the hinges had not been sealed.

I don't have your brand of trailer so this may not apply.

You might try a propane torch on the screw heads if nothing flammable is close. If the screws are small enough the heat of expansion might break them loose from any corroded contact when they cool back down.
