That's what I thought. The title of the thread explains the OP issue. It has to do with the center support leg and it folding up to the bottom of the table when you make it into a bed.

I can see one disadvantage of your modification vs the original, once you've removed the rear of the table from the supports you have to handle the entire weight of the table. As from the factory I think it's easier to control.
