Scamp to Subaru trailer wiring - help needed

I just bought a 2005 Scamp 13 and I am trying to set up my Subaru so that I can go pick the Scamp up. Purchased the Hitch, Prodigy brake controller and wiring adapters from e-trailer. (Car connector to 4 prong flat + a 4 prong flat to 7 prong round) The Scamp has a a round connector with one center terminal and 6 other flat terminals surrounding it . The Scamp owner manual shows the center terminal as the brakes (blue). The 7 prong adapter from e-trailer shows that the center terminal is an auxillary and the the brakes is one of the side terminals.
I am not sure how to wire this up and fear that when I go to pick up the Scamp the wiring will be wrong. I always thought the the wiring would be standardized.
Does anyone have any experience with the Scamp wiring ?? I need help.

Ohhh… I have the same problem. The wirings really confuse me, including those connecting to my Subaru Brakes System. I couldn’t find good results in searching for hours. I just hope somebody could help us both.

After searching for a while I think I found the answer to my question in another post. Apparently the wiring diagram in the scamp owners manual is wrong. (It looks like it might be for an older 7 pin connector with round terminals instead of the flat terminals in the newer 7 pin connectors) Another poster indicated that when he contacted Scamp about it they sent him a new wiring diagram which shows the "standard" 7 pin wiring with the auxillary wire in the center.
I am going to wire up my Subaru based on the instructions with the 7 pin connector and ignore the Scamp plug wiring that is in the owners manual.

The problem is worse than just where the wires go.

I'm betting that your Subaru has separate turn signals (yellow) and brake lights (red), which means that both of them have to feed to one wire that goes to one filament on the egg, which means that when you activate one light on the car, the egg bulb/wire will feed the current right back to the car and light the other bulb.

You need a diode-matrix block to stop this from happening unless your Subaru has one included in a factory towing package (presuming one exists and you have it). Otherwise, you will need one of these, which you can even find at Wally or autoparts stores.

Yes, but I think this part is already handled:

If the output from the stuff installed in the car is 4-prong, it has already been converted to combined stop/turn signals.

That was the first thing that came to my mind when Subaru was mentioned. It's commonly referred to as a "Logic Module". Even J.C. Whitney is a source. (I just liberate them at the local wrecking yard.... ) Larry

Thanks for the info. I think I have the signals covered. Purchased the adaptor for the Subaru to go to 4 prong which has the little "black box" in line.
