Screen Door

Hello, The folding screen door in my 2001 SCAMP does not stay closed. It will not latch into place. Acts like it is warped, but nothing seems out of alignment. Has anyone experienced the same & can suggest a remedy?

The adjustment for the door is at the upper pivot point. There is a screw that locks everything in place after the door is properly adjusted. (It is Hard to get to and tighten.) The screw and slide lock/pivot bracket usually slide out of position and causes issues for door operation.
Store door/fold against the closet. With a long screwdriver or nut driver slightly loosen the screw so the pivot bracket can just slightly slide. Close screen door so it operates properly. Very carefully stow the door without moving the pivot bracket. Now tighten the bracket retainer screw. Repeat as necessary to get the door center hinges to over extend and lock in place.
Note: There is a plastic slide on top of the pivot bracket that needs to be slid to the front of the trailer before tightening the locking screw. This slide keeps the door pivot pins in place so the door stays in place and will let the door fall out of its pivot points. When slid to the rear the door can be lifted up and removed from the pivot points.
You will find out the adjustment of the screen door is more an art than a science.
Good luck.
Eddie

Thank you Eddie for the detailed reply. I am going to do my best to adjust the screw and slide/lock pivot bracket next time in the SCAMP, following your directions. I will let you know how it turns out. Little grandsons fascinated with my screen door probably caused the problem.
I am so happy to hear from you and learn the solution! Katie

I was tired of the screen door opening a crack and letting in mosquitoes. Velcro one of the great things, along with 100 mph tape and 550 cord...

I adjusted the door few times then just went with Velcro.

My first screen door mod. was to change out knob.. it snagged belt loops and about everything. Part of the reason I had to adjust it so much.

Thank you Darrell for your velcro suggestion and the pictures. Velcro sounds like the perfect back-up should the adjustment Eddie layed out in detail not hold my sceen door closed. Your idea had not crossed my mind. Along that line, we could use magnets too.
I am very happy to hear from you. Katie
