Thumbs up

Does anyone know if Scamp seam tape can be used in an older Trillium, since the original Trillium seam tape is no longer available?

I don't know a thing about Trilliums, but I can tell you that on my 84 Scamp I tried everything to avoid replacing the seam tape as I wasn't crazy about it in the first place. After much trial and error, I finally filled the seams with almond color caulk (that matched the rest in the Scamp) and then stenciled over the seams with spray paint! It wasn't hard and I love the look. Just a thought to anyone who wants to try something other than the seam tape.

Ha,
I just finished caulking my seams, looks good. I figured a better way of caulking the seems. Place masking tape on both sides of the seams. Caulk to fill the cracks, let dry, the pull of the tape, smooth finish.

John, does your Trrillium still have the plastic rails in under and between the sheets of fabric?

Thanks so much for your responses. Jaye...your trailer looks great, although John and I are not nearly as creative and ambitious as you are. : (

I do think we will go the caulk route...and yes, we do have the plastic rails.

Thanks again.

There is a 'thread' somewhere in here with pix of 'how to' replace missing filler(s) without the fuss n bother playing around with chalking/tape, etc. I have tried it and it works and while it doesn't look as cute as Jaye580's it IS easier and faster too!!!

There was some discussion about replacing the plastic fill strips and someone posted a 'how to' using a length (usually sold in hardware stores in 8ft lengths) of white plastic seam conceiler (sp?) that is used usually for hiding the seams of household wallboard paneling. It is H shaped when looked at from the side and you decide which half of the H you want to use, and using a razor knife, cut off the undesired portion being SURE to leave the leg (connecting the two halves, making the H) long enough to fit into the 'track' that is on the ceiling/walls of trailers. The plastic is very easy to shape to fit and if its not fitting too too well, just warm it up and fit the leg into the track. This method leaves a smooth even surface which usually needs no touch ups (except for (maybe) paint to match surrounding areas....

This may have been posted before the krash, BTW!

Doug: Thanks so much for following up on the subject of the seams. Gosh, you and Donna are fountains of information. We're going to very carefully go over all the info on that link tomorrow and then I think it's off to Home Depot.

Happy 4th of July everyone.

John and Valerie
