Being a root cause kinda guy, you may want to look at why this is happening. That kind of crack is happening for a reason.

I believe I had read a posting a while back that the cause of this cracking on this person's trailer was the result of a cracked frame in that weakest area.

I would check the frame.
Something is stressing the fiberglass to cause that type of cracking.

Yes.
Not only welds, but cracks in the frame itself.
Most frame cracks can be easily repaired by a competent welder.
I just bought an 83 16' Casita to rehab and sell that's been repaired and reinforced at curved portion of the frame where it emerges from under the front of the trailer.
It's not an uncommon problem on older Casitas.
