Silly question ... jacks?

I need to jack up my whole Boler so I can drop the frame and take it in for servicing. I figured scissor jacks would work, but will they go high enough to pull the frame out once the shell is supported? Can someone point me to a thread where someone has described how to do this or a video showing it? I don't know why I can't seem to find anything on this forum!

Hi Shelley. Try a google search ( second blank down in the search options) for "off frame". I think you will find what you are looking for. Raz

P.s. Don't forget to post some pictures of your project. We all like pictures and it might help out the next guy.

Common with Noobies. Every area of life has it's own lingo. Once you start reading you'll find other phrases that have not been suggested yet.

Jack up the trailer using the frame about where the body is straight on all 4 corners. You want it to be high enough to allow the wheel to clear the body when you pull out the frame.

Support the body by any of or combination of the following:
Belly band, the floor front or rear or body edges front and rear. The ones posted that seemed the easiest made jigs to support the belly band or used a hoist from above. They did not have to move things around when the frame was pulled out.
If you empty your trailer 4-6 larger people can actually lift the body up once you have removed all the bolts, screws and other things, then someone pulls the frame out.

Even if you have the right words, the order can make a difference.
Raz's "off frame" search gave 115 hits, switching the words to "frame off" bumps the hits up to 171

Well ... we took the frame out. Just me and hubby did it with brute force and some scrap lumber Good news is, it was pretty easy. Bad news is, we have a classic crack in the frame where the bend is and it's already been repaired rather poorly. The back bumper is toast, the back 1.5 feet of the streetside frame is rusted out, but the rest seems ok. If you remember my mentioning the bolts that were in the side of the drop floor ... they bolted a plate on each side to the frame right above the axle and that's what the shell was bolted to. I worry that this was either a fix or that the act of putting holes in the frame there will have weakened the structure. Photos below. (sorry about the facebook links, but I don't have them on a site to link to here). You can click through to see more pics.

Good photo's, looks like you have your work cut out for ya. But will be well worth the effort to have it done right.
