Different smells require different solutions. Urine? Mold? Wet dog?? Or just old, musty closed up trailer odor?

Some are just a good thorough cleaning issue. Like wash the foam, curtains and upholstery.

Do you have a problem in particular?

I did a lot of washing and airing, then put little bundles of charcoal in all the cubbies.

One of my favorite topics. See the link below for my trials and tribulations.

I had to really air the trailer out to get rid of the mothball smell, then came the general stink. We removed the cushions, carpet, and curtains. I used two bottles of Febreeze on the rat fur. As a result, the smell is gone, but now it smells like Febreeze (which is much better). I'm hopeful that when spring comes and I can open the windows all day long that the smell will lessen. All this followed a scrubbing of every smooth surface with bleach and copious amounts of elbow grease.

Someone suggested I brew a pot of coffee, then pour this into a pot and boil it off. He claimed that's what they did in houses where someone had died to clear out the odor. Well, it just smelled like a musty Starbucks after that, so that didn't work well.

why charcoal?
Charcoal absorbs moisture and odors. (Some innersoles for shoes have charcoal in them)

Another possiblity is setting out a dish of vinegar. That idea is a "Hint from Heloise", but might be more for odor in the air.

What do you think is the source (or sources) of your trailer smell? After giving ours a super-duper scrubbing, it still took several months of airing, etc. before the musty smell was gone.

I just got a1975 Scamp. I didn’t notice what smelled like urine when I looked at it. The previous owners painted the interior with latex paint . Do you think that’s why it smells like that?
I’m planning on stripping off the old paint and painting it again. Do you think it will get ride of the pee smell or make it worse?

Maybe try an ozone generator. This doesn’t cover up smells, it oxidizes them. I bought one, but I think they can be rented.

Buy some Natures Miracle Original formula. Spray it
Liberally. Also the Natures Miracle Skunk odor remover is very good too. All the guys with trapping sheds where they work their hides use it after they sell about this time of the year. It’s also very good on mouse urine. Get the bulk bottle at Walmart and a plastic spray bottle and go to town. Corners, floor, empty cupboards and storage cubbies. Walmart.

My wife says that when I go outside.....our trailer smells much better! Kidding aside......if weather permits.....open all the windows....vents and doors and let it air out for a few days. Once you do that......spray interior with a product like Frebreze.......add a air freshner......the plug in ones work well if you have electricity. Open all cabinet doors when you go through this process. Good luck.
