I'm in the midst of refurbishing our beloved '72 Trail Mite.

With all the NEW going on it's hard to think about continuing to use the original worn-out hinges on the door. Are new replacements available, or will I need to resort to used-but-serviceable?

I've already pulled the shell off the frame, put down new marine plywood floor, reinforced the frame with some added struts and repaired some marginal welds and reset the shell on the frame.

I have a new ice-box, stove hood/fan am getting a Fantastic Fan ceiling vent and will have the whole thing re-wired soon. I also hope to have the time (and $$) to put a solar panel on it before our annual June/July trip across the US and back.

Last year I replaced the axle and springs, raised it up 4", installed brakes and a tongue box. Ah yes, an ongoing project.

Thanx!
Vic

I think your hinges might be the same as Scamp hinges since they have three fasteners on the camper side. Bolers have a similar type but with only two fasteners on the camper side.

Scamp sells hinges complete, or kits to rebuild the guts (which also work on the Boler hinges).

Scamp has a website, but best just to call them for parts. 800-346-4962.

Couple of notes:

1) It seems that they use non-stainless bolts and nuts in the hinge kits, so you'll probably want to substitute different ones when you get them.

2) One "set" is one hinge, not a set of two hinges. Also, I *think* that hinge #2 goes on the bottom, and hinge #1 on the top, but you can probably check how they match up to the ones you're taking off.

Their prices seem reasonable, too.

I think that is a marine snap apart hinge at least a derivation of one. http://www.jamestowndistributors.com/userp...ap+Apart+Hinges

this other link is the whole shooting match of all kinds of hinges.

I agree they look like scamp hinges too.

Rachel,

Thank you! I knew that someone on here would have the info.
I looked at the Scamp site. Their hinges look very similar, except maybe the shell side might have slightly different hole spacing. I'll order them anyway and may need to fill a hole or two and re-drill another hole or two.

One more item off the list!
