Squeaky Scamp 19 door hinges?

We spray silicon on our squeaky 2011 Scamp 19 door hinges and after working it in, they are quiet for a couple days. The squeaking and squawking soon returns with a vengeance. Does anyone have a longer lasting solution?

Thanks,

David

Squeaky Scamp 19 door hinges

I also have a 2011 19ft. Twice in the last 3 years I had to WD-40 the hinges because of the squeaking. The lube you are using should last longer than two weeks. I suspect you have hinges that are stressed more than normal and are binding up. An alignment issue due to the original installation. Possibly a lubricant that clings better which would last longer. Also as the brass balls in the hinges wear down the problem might correct itself or get better.

I removed the door on my Scamp , cleaned / polished the balls ,hinge pins and all mating surfaces . Lubricated the hinge with white lithium grease . Re installed and aligned the door . Seemed to eliminate most of the squeak. Spray lubricants (WD 40--PB Blaster) only cured the squeak for a short time before the squeak returned

I recently loosed off the hinge screws from the inside of my Scamp with someone holding the door up on the outside and then retighten them to try and fix an alignment issue & a squeaking hinge. The alignment issues is not totally fixed but it is better (the door lock now hits the striker fully) and the squeaking stopped.

Donna raises a really good point. The body of the Scamp does flex more than what one might expect. I learned that first hand when I tried to do a U turn on a very rough pot hole filled parking lot and my door came open while towing for the first and only time while locked. Got out and checked why and the trailer was not level side to side or back to front, put it on level ground and the door closed and locked correctly.
