Sorry for the second request, but I am getting desperate... I have sanded off lthe entire tongue of the Play pac, and still no VIN#. I crawled all under it, but only found the metal tag on the axle with the number for it. I do not know how many numbers and or letters are in the VIN but if someone could tell me that much, maybe I could find the number somewhere on it. Thank you very much for reading this, and I hope someone will get tired of me nagging and tell me something. Ha.. Thanks in advance. James (Mac).

I have no experience with Playpac, but I had a couple of different makes that only had VIN information on a paper which was glued to the inside of the closet door. this can be a real problem when remodeling.
Perhaps , if you have a title with the vin# on it you could buy a set of welding stamps and stamp the # on the frame.
I once built a 1929 Model "A" for which I built a new chassis, which made it necessary to stamp the new frame with the original VIN#. The DMV found it acceptable but that was some time ago.
Of course ,on many fiberglass trailers welder's stamp would be authentic anyway.

Yeah, cheap fix. Once stamped and coated with paint it will look like it's been there since the trailer was built: 40 Piece 1/4" Letter/Number Stamping Set

Thats the problem. I bought the trailer with a notorized bill of sale only. The owner said he had never had a title. So I am told I must find a vin # in order to obtain a title and tag. Thank you both for your reply and helpful suggestions. I will keep looking for the vin because my state requires it to get the title. Thanks again... Mac

These websites have some informaiton on VINs, note that the first one says VINs weren't required before 1980 so maybe you don't have one. My 1952 utility trailer does not have a VIN, only has a 5 digit number with a letter and 4 numbers.

Was your trailer made before 1980?

Link to "Chat with the inventor of the PLAYPAC"
Thanks to everyone who responded. The info and links were a great help. My trailer was defenately made before 1980. The Playpac was made during the early 70's. I will go to the DMV this next week to see where I stand. So far, no number. I did send a message to the inventor, but he did not remember if or where there was a number. Thanks again for everyone for helping me out. I am excited to get started on the restoration of this little jewel, but am afraid to do anything until I can get it tagged. Mac
