Hello Everyone,
I'm the new, proud but extremely stupid owner of a 1999 16' scamp.

For the life of me, I can't get the table back up into it the upright position from the bed position. The metal tabs that insert into brackets on the wall just won't go in and/or stay in.

I realize this should be a very straight forward and simple task but alas...

Any suggestions would be most appreciated. All smart alec comments will bring a smile to my face.

Thanks in advance,
Dawn

Dawn.....
hold the end of the table nearest to you up in the air higher than the other side (about a foot or so)and insert the other end into the tabs while holding the table up high........... then bring that end of the table down and it should fall into the tabs. That should do it
Joe

Good time to replace all that hardware with two aluminum stanchions and maybe even a new table...
Our table is now much steadier, easier to take up and down, more legroom and I like the look better since we have a lot of chrome hardware in our finish.

Hello Everyone,
Thank you all, for your replies. My step-dad (whose name just happens to be Alf, no kidding) determined that the brackets are probably shot. I was hoping to figure out the table problem before he came over because of the teasing that I would endure (hmmmmm, must be something about those people named ALF!).

I'm thinking to do exactly what Greg S has suggested and redo the table differently. Both my husband and I are tall people and extra leg room would be nice. I'm hoping to replace the current table with a something more removable. I looked at all the posts on making a larger bed and decided I'll stick with what we've got, for the mean time

Thanks again for all the replies!

I've always wondered how those stanchions work? Do they collapse somehow to lower the table or do you just remove them? I'd prefer it if they collapsed since I wouldn't know where to store them when using the bed.

I'm seriously considering replacing the flimsy stock table leg with one of those beefy stanchions!

Thanks!

They just pull out of the cones and they lay right on the floor underneath the bed. We travel with the bed down and pack the chairs, etc. on around them so they don't roll around while traveling. But they're sturdy enough you could travel with the table up with no problem.
I got them here and they're pretty inexpensive. Two stanchions and four cones.

Stanchions

Cones

Think the whole thing with shipping was about $40 Birch ply for the table was scrap from a previous project.

Having had both the original Scamp hardware and this system, I personally prefer this much better.

did you buy your 99 scamp from SCAMP? I ask because I traded my 99 in for one with lots more options.
I made the table different in the 99 and I kept it and gave scamp
the table from my new trailer. they had changed the size of the table and the "new" table would not fit the old 99 brackets.
