Suburban propane heater/13' Scamp

Our 1977 Scamp 13 has a Suburban propane heater of the same vintage and I can light the pilot, but can't get the furnace to come on. I haven't checked whether it requires any electricity or is simply a straight gas heater. Should I try to refurbish it myself, find someone (in North Carolina) who can repair it, or replace it altogether?

What are others' experiences?

Thanks,

Eric

There are several Suburban furnace manuals in the document center here- you might take a look and see if your model is among them. Link to appliances page

I dont know what model yours is but mine requires 12 v power to run. I suspect we have a different model though as I dont need to light the pilot - just move the thermostat a ways above the current room temp and it will start up on its on as long as the gas tank is turned on. The blower needs to run for a few minutes before I can set the temp back to where I want it.

Is the owner's manual among these?
